Justin Verlander is getting hit with the receipts after posting an apparent reaction to Robinson Cano’s suspension on Twitter.
Soon after news broke Tuesday that Cano had been hit with an 80-game ban for PEDs, the Houston Astros right-hander sent this thinly veiled subtweet.
Aaaand excuse coming in 3….. 2…… 1……

Verlander’s tweet was not particularly well-received, and CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa pointed out the former All-Star’s hypocrisy after what he said about then-Detroit Tigers teammate Jhonny Peralta’s PED suspension in 2013.

Cano and Verlander met a number of times in the postseason back when they were still on the Yankees and Tigers respectively, and now they are AL West division rivals. Interestingly enough, Verlander’s comments come in a season where his own Astros have been the subject of cheating accusations as well.
